About Andrew

As an Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals Andrew is part of the Executive and in particular in managing a group of some 30 Chapters in The Holy Royal Arch. He will keep in regular touch with his Chapters and visit them on behalf of the Province on a regular basis. He will also support the Grand Principals whilst undertaking Anniversary events, Cluster meetings etc

Andrew’s maternal grandfather John left the family Croft on the west coast of Scotland and being familiar with the cloth trade moved eventually to Braintree where Courtauld’s was established and he traded as an independent Taylor. He married into a family of builders and joined the Lodge of Saint Mary 1312 in 1905 Andrew Qualified as a chartered surveyor and so became the fourth generation dealing with property in the Braintree area. Andrew has always enjoyed the outside and worked as a Jackaroo on and Australian sheep station when young and played all the major sports and continues to play tennis now. His walks have become rather adventurous with the tackling of the Three Peaks followed by Kilimanjaro and lastly a trek to Everest Base Camp to mark his 60th birthday. He now loves a sundowner on an African Safari! Before joining Freemasonry he was Chairman of the Friends of Braintree Hospitals and more recently has Received the Freedom of the City of London.

In 1990 Andrew followed his grandfather and was initiated into the lodge of St Mary 1312 becoming master in 1996. He joined and became master of Langthorne Lodge 1421 in 2010 and the Old Framlinghamian Lodge 6646 in 2011. Currently master again of L1312 commemorating the 150 Anniversary of the Lodge and 100 years after his grandfather was master. Member of Essex Provincial Stewards 8665, Essex Masters 3256 and North Essex Masters 9831. In the Royal Arch he joined the Chapter of St Mary 1312 in 1994 and was PZ in 2005 and is a member of Essex First Principals 3256 In OSM he became the Provincial Deputy GSR and has recently rejoined The Mark Degree.
